Hues and Cues is a light weight family game suitable for 3-10 players.
How to play:
Player 1 draws a card with four colour options, chooses one of the colours and gives a one word hint to the other players. The other players then place one of their meeples on the board on the place they think is the chosen colour. Player 1 then gives a two word clue to allow other players to choose better. Other players again each place one piece on the board, on the spot they think matches the chosen colour. Player 1 then places the scoring frame on the board with their chosen colour in the centre. Any player who has a meeple inside or touching the frame scores 1 (outside but touching) or 2 (inside) points for each.
Kelly’s thoughts:
First of all this game ticks so many boxes for me as it’s bright, colourful, quick and super fun. It can be played competitively or cooperatively, when we played we didn’t focus on the scoring but if you are a competitive gamer you have that option. One of the hard parts was coming up with a unique hint for the colours, but I found that day after playing I was still thinking of what hints I could have used. Hues and Cues is a great way to get a glimpse of how people’s minds work and it will always have a place at our gaming table. It’s great for a family game and for people who want to laugh more than to be competitive.
