Description
Girl on Stool is one of the murals included in Banksy’s 2008 New Orleans series, painted in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In the image, a frightened young school girl stands on a stool to avoid a large but friendly-looking mouse on the ground. While the girl is stenciled in black and white, the mouse is crafted from the paint having been stripped off the brick wall in the shape of a mouse’s body. It is an example of the artist’s clever ability to incorporate pre-existing wall elements into his compositions.
Banksy’s satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have appeared on streets, walls, bridges throughout the world and this 1000pc puzzle!
