Description
Liberté, Égalité, Cable TV takes aim at the refugee crisis in Europe. The image is a reimagination of the famous Napoleon Crossing the Alps portrait, which depicts a horse-mounted Napoleon with his red cape blowing in the wind. In Banksy’s version, the figure on the horse is completely shrouded by a red cape evocative of an Islamic veil. The work’s title makes viewers question the unequal distribution of liberty and equality in the modern world.
Banksy’s satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have appeared on streets, walls, bridges throughout the world and this 1000pc puzzle!
